Feast of Tabernacles

This year the last feast days all fell in September. This doesn’t happen too often. You can find it spoken of in Leviticus 23:34-36; Numbers 29:12-40 and Deuteronomy 16:13-17. The Feast of Tabernacles back in the day was representing the people God journey through the wilderness where they lived in temporary houses (tabernacles), as well as their dependence on Him to provide their needs. In turn we also dwell in figurative tabernacles as we await His Kingdom to be established down here and we rely on Him to prove for us while we wait. The fulfillment of this Holy Day will happen when Christ returns and reigns for a thousand year. As we live here under his rule and we are taught, but also we receive rest from this world we live in now. The places we live in during that time will be to us tabernacles, they will be temporary for when that time is done and after the short season that Satan is let loose, God will renew the earth in fire (Revelation 20:9).

On another note, we today should be observing and enjoying this time of celebration that God has established for us. Even Jesus observed it while he was here as you can read in John 7:1-17. If Jesus is our example as many say, then why are all those that profess to follow him do as he did? Even in Zechariah 14:9-21 we find that after all is said and done (verse 9) we will be observing the Feast of Tabernacle (verse 16). Also, in Malachi 3:6-7 it speaks of God not changing. Why then are Christians trying to change what He has established? Are they putting themselves in His spot? I caution actions that remove what God has done. What is so hard to simply be obedient to God and to follow the example that Jesus left for us?

Let us not be found fitting into the world so that we don’t stand out. We should be different just as Jesus definitely was different and stood out from all others. Do we want to be found on his return denying him by not doing as he did or we will be denied by him before his Father (Matthew 10:33).
