Jesus the Christ or the Crutch?

The question of the day is did Jesus carry a cross to Golgotha or did he use a crutch? You may think this is an odd question or even ridiculous, but is it if you think about it. The problems of Christianity can come down to that simple question. We all know what Jesus said and did by means of the New Testament scriptures. We also know who Jesus is and what he came here to accomplish.

If all this is known by the Cristian World, why then has it preached about a crutch and not the cross? And to clarify it some more I am not speaking of a literal crutch, but a figurative crutch. A crutch is used to help hold someone up and a cross is used to nail someone to it so that they die. These are two starkly contrasted objects with two totally different jobs. This gets us to the meat of the matter between what the Gospel message was during Jesus’s life and what the Gospel message is today. While Jesus wanted people to pick up their crosses, meaning to put an end to their old way of life and to offer that up as sacrifice to his Father as Jesus had done in the scriptures, but how many Christian have or are willing to make that sacrifice of self for God, especially when they squabble over what commandments and instead of just obeying what God has asked of His people from the beginning.

Matthew 10:38 “And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.”

Matthew 16:24 “Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”

The hidden message of tolerance that the churches preach is a crutch to people so that they can continue to hold up their existing lives and not make the needed sacrifice to God.  We are not only unable to go before God, but we are also rejected by His son if that sacrifice isn’t made.

Mark 14:38 “Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.”

John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

There have been too many half-measures made by the Christian World that you cannot tell them apart from the rest of the World. They have become a religious version of the World and not separate from it as Jesus wanted them to be. John 17:16 “They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.”

John 15:18-19 “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. [19] If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.”

How much more does the Christian World need to hear from Jesus for them to wake up to the fact that they have been using crutches and not crosses? What Jesus had said in Matthew 23:15 is so true today, “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.”

I put most of the blame upon the leaders of the Christian Faith than the members, because it is the leader’s responsibility to tell the Truth no matter how hard it may seem at the time. It is not up to them to weaken the message causing those that hear them to become twice as worthy of hell. And why would they become twice as worthy of hell anyways you may ask. It is because as the message is weakened each following generation is set on a course to weaken it even more, which in turn causes them to drift farther and farther away from the truth and from God. Each generation becomes even more wicked and depraved even if it doesn’t appear to be, because the standard they are making their comparison to is not God’s but their previous leaders. So the slippery slope begins to angle more and more downwards to the point where they are unable to correct the course without God’s intervention and that is if they truly want to change their course or do they even realize that they are on the wrong path.

If you think that the Christian World is being attacked from what they call the World because of their belief in God or Jesus you may want to think about that again. Are they being attacked for that reason or could they be being attacked because they have drifted away from God and it is God punishing them through the use of the World?

God has used worldly kingdoms in the past to punish His people when they had gone astray to correct their ways and put them back on the right path. To know the truth in this matter we need to compare the lives of the Christian World to that of Jesus the barer of the Cross and not the Crutch. If they do not measure up to the standards laid down by God and shown through Jesus then you know why what is happening is happening. They spend so much time on “Woe is me” they have forgotten to ask why.

If we are to be hated and persecuted down here for the Testimony of Jesus, it might as well be for the right reason and not the wrong. It is time to put down your crutch and pick up your cross and be found worthy of him. Jesus didn’t come to make our lives easier in a world run by the Devil, but he came to show how we are to be obedient to God and stand out from the world.
