The Four Horsemen Part 2

Here we are at the last two horsemen. As I have mentioned, when each rider is sent forth, their beginnings start out small and grow more and more as time goes on. Plus they continue to ride till the second coming of Christ. The Black Horse, the symbol of economic collapse started in the 4^th century with Rome’s economic woes. Though it took some time for Rome to fall from both war and economic troubles, those two Horsemen had just begun to do what they were sent to do. Historically speaking these economic troubles would come it appears in cycles. America being the world power is about due for the next one.

The Black Horse (verses 5-6) - And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, a measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.

The rider of the Pale Horse is the only one mentioned by name. I believe there is more significance to the name then what we perceive it to mean. The name I believe links him to the Angel of Death (Exodus 12:23) that was sent into Egypt as the last plague. He is also known as the Destroyer and that name is tied to Abaddon/Apollyon mention in Revelation 9:11. In Zechariah this horse is mentioned going to the south. Interestingly the plagues that would devastate Europe would originate from the south, from Asia. So around 6^th and 7^th century would be a rough estimate of when the Pale Horse would have begun his ride. Since then there have been millions of dead from plagues and epidemics. Even today there are still serious outbreaks and even the ones that thought to have been beaten are coming back.

The Pale Horse (verses 7-8) - And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

These four servants of the LORD will continue their ride to the end. Be watchful of events in the world, as we were told to be watchful and to stay awake.
